Write for us

We commission reported essays from people who have actually stood on a hot roof, read a water bill, or sat with a household that cannot sleep in January.

What we want

  • Original work, in Australian English, of at least 1,000 words.
  • A specific Australian place, climate or system — not a generic HVAC brochure.
  • Numbers you can defend: litres, wet-bulb, pad types, bleed rates, power draw.
  • A point of view. Neutral product copy belongs on a manufacturer’s site.

What we will not run

  • Rewritten press releases, spun listicles or AI paste jobs.
  • Medical claims that outrun the evidence.
  • Unlabelled advertorial. Paid or guest-post links are marked rel="sponsored".
  • Attacks on named households or unverified installer gossip.

How to pitch

Send a 150–300 word pitch, not a finished draft. Tell us the question the essay answers, the reporting you already have, and why this desk is the right home. If you have a commercial relationship with a brand mentioned in the piece, say so in the pitch. We edit. We fact-check climate and water claims against public Australian sources. We may decline without a long explanation.

Read the editorial standards and the about page before you write. If you only need a correction or a private note, use the contact form instead.
